The Department of Chemistry of Sainik School Tilaiya is a department par excellence. The motto of this department is to make cadets academically sound and to cultivate the scientific temperament among the young cadets. Keeping that in mind, the department emphasizes on a fine balance of theoretical knowledge and practical experience. All the faculty members are devoted to satiate the quench of the cadets. They are also earmarked for the betterment of the young cadets in order to extract maximum outcome from their end.

 The Department of Chemistry started its journey from 1963,since then department of chemistry is able to maintain its level of excellence. Mrs. Kavita Prakash (Former HoD) was a recipient of the prestigious President Award. At present, the department is headed by Mr Suvam Mondal ( PGT).The department is also enriched with well qualified teachers like Mr.Sibu Kundu (PGT), Mrs Anju Sharma (TGT), and Mrs Priyanka Rai(TGT)

Laboratory of this department is equipped with numerous numbers of working and dummy models. Several modern apparatus make the lab a top notch and are maintained by Mr Anand Kishore Singh (Lab Asst.)

The teachers are not only focusing on the class room teaching for CBSE curriculum but also they emphasize on preparing the cadets for UPSC entrance examination. The department tries to incorporate inquisitiveness in the young cadets from the very inception. This urge makes our cadets stand apart from the rest. We hope that the cadets will keep on adding glory and laurels not only to this institution but also to the country.
