Sports activities in Sainik School Tilaiya are undertaken with great pride. Adequate emphasis is provided on regular exercise and physical fitness. All games are supervised by PT instructor, House masters and hostel Superintendents. Enough ground for outdoor games and sufficient place for indoor games is provided to students.
NIS coaches from Indian Army do coach boys in Hockey, football, volleyball and Basketball. The basketball team of the school has earned a respectable position amongst the public schools of the country. Tennis, badminton, squash, swimming, athletics and gymnastics are also built into the calendar.
