ORIGIN & HISTORY
The primary aim of Sainik School is to prepare boys academically, physically and mentally for entry into the Defence Services and those who do not make the grade, for responsible positions in the various other walks of life. 16 Sept of 1963 was a witness to the laying of the foundation stone of the 12 Sainik School in the chain of 33 Sainik Schools sprawling across the length and breath of the country.

VISION & MISSION
On 16 September 1963 the foundation stone of Sainik School Tilaiya was laid in the lap of the nature with the accomplishment of the strenuous job by the then Chief Minister of Bihar K B Sahay, Union Defence Minister K Krishna Menon and the founding Principal Lt. Col. L.E.G. Smith.
Since then, SST has been successfully pursuing its goal of sending cadets of the Defence Forces.
